Dear ARBA Clarion Clients,

Microsoft ends support for Windows XP

Microsoft has ended support for Windows XP on April 8th, 2014. This means your current systems running Windows XP are NOT protected from future online threats. Business users running XP are the worst affected group.

Over the past couple of months, since Microsoft stopped supporting the Windows XP operating system, we have seen numerous new issues that have occurred at our clients that are still using the ARBAPRO Clarion version of our POS software. Many of these issues have required a significant number of hours to resolve, and there is no guarantee that new issues that come up will be resolvable.

As ARBAPRO Clarion software can only run on Microsoft XP, for which there  will be no new security updates released, there is a greater risk of security breaches for those running credit card processing on these machines. Unfortunately, we have no control over Microsoft’s decision to stop supporting XP, but that decision affects our ability to properly support our clients who continue to run the ARBAPRO Clarion software version on Windows XP platform.

We cannot, in good conscience, continue to support Clarion when we cannot accurately predict how the software will behave and when we know that the current Clarion/XP combination puts our clients at risk for credit card security breaches, in addition to other issues that will make our system perform unpredictably. Because of this, we will no longer be supporting the ARBAPRO Clarion software version as of January 1, 2015.


Upgrade to ARBA .NET PoS for data security, secure credit card transactions and protection from virus, malware and hackers.

Since XP is unsupported already, ARBA will NOT take responsibility for security breaches on the desktops or registers running the ARBAPRO Clarion software version. We will, however, continue to support Clarion on an exception basis through December 31, 2014, as long as you have an active ARBA Support Contract. We do not have any solutions/resolutions for new issues that may come up, so while we would love to support you indefinitely, we do not have the tools to support you on the unsupported Microsoft XP operating system.

We hope that you will continue to remain ARBA customers by migrating over to our ARBAPRO .NET POS product, which offers similar functionality to the Clarion version, but on a stable system that will remain compatible with Microsoft products for the foreseeable future. As an incentive to remain a valued ARBA customer, we are offering a 20% discount to those who sign a contract to upgrade to the ARBAPRO .NET POS software version by October and who then upgrade before the end of the year, and do not have an upgrade contract already.
